Mr Vernon Chua
Director, Asset Management
Mr Chua is Founder and Managing Director of Averic Capital Management Pte Ltd (ACM). He is also the Director of Avery Strategic Investments Pte Ltd (ASI), one of Singapore’s largest investor/owner of dormitory real estate with a current market value of over SGD640million and combined capacity for about 23,000 workers.
Mr Chua has over a decade of experience in the fields of real estate investment, asset management, facilities management and project management. He began his career with JTC Corporation (JTC), a statutory board under the Ministry of Trade and Industry in Singapore where he manages JTC-owned dormitories. He went on to spear-head JTC’s initiative to engage private sector participation in the dormitory industry and successfully facilitated the development of 4 other commercial dormitories with a combined capacity of over 17,000 workers.
At JTC, he also held the position of Principal Strategic Analyst in the Corporate Planning Group where he was responsible for formulating key corporate strategies which includes the divestment of JTC’s ready-built industrial portfolio.
Mr Chua subsequently went on to helm key management positions in the private sector companies where he spearheaded efforts in real estate development. In 2007, he founded ACM and collaborated with global real estate investment fund to set up ASI.
Mr Chua holds a Bachelor of Science in Estate Management (Honours) from the National University of Singapore.
Mr Tan is the co-founder and Director of Averic Capital Management Pte Ltd (ACM).
Mr Tan began his career at JTC Corporation’s Housing Development Group where he oversaw the management of Kian Teck Dormitory and Woodlands Dormitory. He was also responsible for dormitory land development where he identified and evaluated new sites for investment, and facilitated the development of supporting infrastructure. Mr Tan has worked closely with private developers and facilitated the development of two commercial dormitories with a combined capacity of 12,000 workers. Mr Tan also project-managed numerous major upgrading exercises at the dormitories and is chiefly in-charge of dormitories’ operating budgets.
Upon leaving JTC, Mr Tan held key finance positions with a private local developer before finally joining ACM. Mr Tan currently oversees the Investment and Finance Department.
Mr Tan graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Science in Real Estate (Honours) and is also a Certified Accountant (CA) with the Institute of Certified Public Accountants Singapore.
Dr Lanz Chan started his career in JP Morgan in investment banking covering Asian equity research. He then joined Jones Lang Lasalle as a consultant for property portfolios of large MNC clients, including DBS bank and ExxonMobil. Thereafter, he joined Franklin Templeton covering research for the Asian mutual fund industry and subsequently moved on to UBS where he managed high net-worth clients in the Greater China Markets.
Dr. Chan received training in Singapore, Hong Kong and Zurich, and was awarded the UBS Wealth Management Diploma. He possesses extensive investment experience and has directly managed assets valued in excess of USD1billion.
Dr. Chan also lectured at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, United International College and other universities in Financial Engineering, Multinational Finance, Economics and Entrepreneurship. He has also published research in the Market Technician Journal, the Journal of Property Investment and Finance, and other journals. He developed Atomic Portfolio Selection and Finamatrix: Risk Cybernetics, which has garnered media coverage from Reuters and Morningstar.
Dr. Chan is concurrently a Director of China Business Development in Galaxy Asset Management, one of the oldest hedge funds and a leading alternative investments firm based in Hong Kong.
He received his Bachelor and Master degrees in Real Estate and Finance from the National University of Singapore and a Doctorate in Management and Finance from the Macau University of Science and Technology. He also completed the global marketing strategies program by Harvard Business School and has been consulted for government projects in finance. Dr Chan oversees ACM’s business development initiatives in China.
